Usually, these high altitudes lakes are difficult to reach and need days of hiking and crossing difficult terrains, before the sight of the lake can be cherished. But all these tough complications can be kept at bay with the beautiful Bhrigu Lake Trek in the upper Kullu Valley based on the eastern side of the famous Rohtang pass in Himachal Pradesh. This is an ideal weekend hiking trip promising loads of entertainment for both beginners as well as experienced hikers. Detailed Itinerary

Day 1 Vashisht/Kulang to Moridug

Our trek to Bhrigu Lake will start at Village Vashisht/Kulang. Vashisht is named after Saint Maharishi Vashisht. Vashisht village is famous for its natural hot springs and a very beautiful Jogni Waterfall although the waterfall is not hot water source it got its water from melting glacier of Bhrigu. On the first day, we will be walking to Moridug which is 6 km from Vashisht and it will take us 3-4 hours the trek will be a little rough because the first-day trek is going to be a very steep trail. After reaching Moridug you will be spending the night at our Moridug campsite. Our trek to Bhrigu Lake will start at Village Vashisht/Kulang. Vashisht is named after Saint Maharishi Vashisht. Day 2 Moridug to Bhrigu Lake

Today’s journey is going to be a little more challenging as today is the day we trek to the Bhrigu lake. From Moridug to Bhrigu is approx 10 km and it will take you to 7-8 hours of walking on a steep and stony path. Moridug is the last destination where you find the tree line after Moridug there are green meadows for a few miles the meadows fabulous but this trek of High Mountain with cold climate will make you feel like you’re in the heaven as you see clouds below you or right front of you. Even in summers like June you can still find the snow on Bhrigu Lake. As you walk slowly-slowly on slipper boulder at the end of the trail you will start to see glimpses of Holy Bhrigu Lake and this none less than a magical world. From there you feel like you are standing on clouds or if the sky is clear then you can see Solang valley, Manali town, and beautiful Dhauladhar range. After staying at Bhrigu Lake for a couple of hours we start the trek back down to Moridug. Tonight we will be spending our night at the same campsite and tomorrow we head back to Vashisht from where we started our trek.


Day 3 Moridug to Vashisht

Today after breakfast we will start the final phase of this trek by a trek down to Vashisht village which will take you 3-4 hours to reach there. After this long trek your body will need some relaxation so you can bath in vashishts natural hot springs. You will get rid of your all tiredness by relaxing in hot springs it will make your body feels loose and relaxed your muscles within a couple of minutes. Cancellation Polices:

  • Cancellations prior to 15 days from the start of the Trek: Get a full refund (minus 5% transaction cost). The money will be transferred to the same bank account from where the transaction was made.
  • Cancellations prior to 10 days from the start of the Trek: 50% Cancellations Charges. The money will be transferred to the same bank account from where the transaction was made.
  • Cancellations less than 7 days of departure: Unfortunately, NO REFUND.

1. When is the best time to go for Bhrigu Lake trekking?
Starting from Mid May, till the month of September, trekking to Bhrigu Lake is absolutely allowed and travelers can plan accordingly. However the ideal time is before the month of June and after August since this is the monsoon time and there remains the probability of landslides in the region.
2. What medicines I should carry? Can I take diamox?
You can carry you own personal medicines and firs-aid kit with you, but make sure you have consulted the concern doctor before carrying medicines and before consuming any medicine discuss with your trek leader. Yes, you can carry Diamox only if you have Doctor's prescription.
3. Will there be mobile connectivity?
Indian mobile networks do not work for most part of this trek. Jio, Airtel and BSNL are the only mobile networks that work in patches along the way (but are inconsistent).
4. What will be the Bhrigu Lake temperature?
Trek April to May when it's quite comfortable (temperature ranges between 6 - 18°C) and the flowers like rhododendrons, orchid, primula are in full bloom. In May however there are chances of occasional showers and the sky remaining cloudy at times. The second season is between October to November when the bhrigu lake temperature ranges between 1 - 6°C, visibility is excellent and there may be occasional snowfall.
5. Is it a good trek for first timer?
Yes, this trek is an easy trek. But it makes a lot of sense to spend some time before coming on a trekking holiday getting some additional exercise.
